XLRI to Set-Up Entrepreneurship Development Cell

Jamshedpur, Oct 21 (Financial Express): The Centre has allotted around 9 acres and Rs 1crore to the XLRl School of Business & Human Resources for construction of its entrepreneurship development centre (EDC) said tobe the first-of-its-kind by any B-School in India.

The Jharkhand government too has given the B-School around Rs 1.5 crore to put up infrastructure for the EDC. The Centre will provide another Rs 1 crore as the construction of the EDC progresses.

"Weare waiting for the land. The minister has signed the (land) release order and we have reached the last stage (of getting the land)," said XLRI director Father EAbraham.

United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) director general Kandeh Yumkella had in February 2007 laid the-foundation stone for the proposed EDC. The total cost of construction is expected to be around Rs 5crore. So XLRI will be bearing the majority of expenses in both constructing and later 0n running the centre.

Young graduates aspiring to become entrepreneurs will undergo a one-year training programme attheEDC.

According' to Prof Prabal Sen, coordinator of the EDC, the key activity of the centre would be to operate a one-year certificate programme in entrepreneurship development for both fresh graduates and existing entrepreneurs interested to hone their skills.
